Always New refers to both the core idea and thecreative technique, which is the main focus in myrecent research on transformation of the traditional language into modern trends.To this end, the various series of my works, with different subject matters, unique styles and distinctive characteristics, are of the same strain.

When You Wendi had just graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, I was the curator of her solo art exhibition at the Peninsula Hotel in Beijing. You Wendi's artworks show sincerity and delicacy, and the ink is both thin and heavy, soft and jumping, which I am deeply impressed. I think her academic creative talents, both in the subject research and artistic creation, have reached to a higher level.

游雯迪是传统柔美与现代刚毅笔触的叛逆画家。游雯迪的画平铺直述不矫情，呈现出她本性的刚毅与豪爽。她纵横横驰于绢本的游戏场，充分运用绢本与颜料的特质，刺激观看者的视觉元素与体认线条“疾、涩”融合、反差的力量感。
You Wendi is a rebellious painter of traditional tenderness and modern resolute brushwork. You Wendi's paintings are straightforward and unpretentious, showing her natural fortitude and forthrightness. She gallops in the silk play field, making full use of the characteristics of silk and paint, stimulating the viewer's visual elements and recognizing the integration and contrast of both "disease and acerbity".

游雯迪的水墨始终是爱恋着经典的传统象征。无论是从写意山水或工笔花鸟人物，她不断地从其中领略传统水墨高雅优美的意境，并寄寓深厚情威的相互对应。但是传统的出世情调在现代社会环境中的失语状态，似乎也让她敏锐的感受到表达的无力感。于是从传统经典的追摹过程中领略传统的现代思考成了她言说的符号。
You Wendi's ink and wash has always been a traditional symbol of love to the classics. Whether from freehand landscapes, or meticulous paintings of flowers, birds or figures, she constantly appreciates the elegant and beautiful mood of traditional ink and wash, and expresses deep feelings and power. However, the aphasia of the traditional aloof mood in the modern social environment seems to make her keenly aware of the powerlessness of expression. So from the traditional classics in the process of learning the traditional modern thinking has become her speech symbols.

看游雯迪的作品，可以說她对东方古典情有独钟、几近“迷恋”。她将心中深处的“叛逆”赋予作品动人的生命力。她利用传统经典的迷恋去寻求与当代的共通性，借由此抒发心声，作品往往予人非常不同的视界。换言之，这是摆脱传统技法的束缚去争取更大的视觉空间的可能性。虽然创作过程中，曾因为困惑而产生质疑但在承袭与排斥之间激荡后，却能因应科技带来新视觉；经过一次次拉锯丶无数磨合，创作思维趄了很大的革新作用巧妙将古今相互碰撞出无写能量，把许多的质疑升华成作品特色。
Looking at You Wendi's works, it can be said that she has a special liking for the oriental classics, almost "infatuated." She gives her artworks moving vitality from the "rebellion" deep in her heart. She uses her fascination with the classics to find commonalities with the present, and by doing so, her artworks often give a very different perspective. In other words, this is the possibility of getting rid of the shackles of traditional techniques and striving for a greater visual space. Although in the creative process questions arose out of perplexity, after the agitation between acceptance and rejection, she is able to respond to the new vision brought by technology. After many times of seesaw and countless running-in, the creative thinking has played a very important role in innovation, ingeniously colliding the past and the present to create the non-writing energy, sublimating the suspicions into the work characteristics.

游雯迪所开启的是对经典文本 (canons)再次寻觅，以入众声交响之处。她以今入古，以新的生活感受锻造新经典。她对于溢流的造型和移换意象 (moving image）的观看轨迹，有著特殊的迷恋。中国美学追求的领悟和意境，与西方艺术念兹在兹的观念和实验，在游雯迪的系列作品里有著让人印象深刻的熔铸。游雯迪演示的，拥有后现代美学的况味。最是古雅的，俨然也最为前卫。纯熟的水墨技法，绢本与其他媒介的交互运用，加上对当代文化符号的汲引，均能精湛融合，带出更广阔的人文意象
What You Wendi started is to search for the canons again, to enter the places where the voices were resonating. She uses the present to enter the past, forging the new canons with her own life experience. She seemed to have a special fascination with the shape of the overflow and the trajectory of the moving image. The understanding and artistic conception pursued by Chinese aesthetics, and the concepts and experiments associated with Western art, are impressively melted in Wendi You's series of works. What she demonstrates for us is a taste of post-modern aesthetics. Most classic, and most avant-garde. Her proficient ink and wash techniques, interactive use of silk and other media, as well as borrowing of contemporary cultural symbols, have been exquisitely fusioned into a broader cultural image.

游雯迪汲取传统工笔画的风格,在笔耕墨耘间却让人有耳目一新的感觉。她的墨韵构图自有新意与情趣，是风格独具的新生代水墨创作者。她笔下的水与墨并不静默，它们的流动深深触动人心、引人入胜，值得细细品鉴。
You Wendi draws on the style of traditional fine brushwork, but gives people a fresh and refreshing feeling in her painstaking brushwork. Her ink rhyme composition has its own new meaning and interest, which makes the unique style of the new generation of ink and wash creators. Her ink and water are not silent. Their movements are deeply moving and captivating, and they deserve to be read carefully.
